Moditar: Increasing Integration Adoption using UtopiaSync
Moditar has been using UtopiaSync for a long time now and they specialize in delivering turn key integration projects, both On-prem and cloud Integrations created using UtopiaSync to scale with businesses. This is what they have to say on the matter:
Have you heard of the 80/20 rule? We find many customers are great at getting the 20% important trading partners organised for Integration, but what about that last 80? Historically the effort involved here can be just too great to even attempt. UtopiaSync has helped us change the narrative on this and changed our mindset when it comes to integrating with partners.
Traditionally we would have prescribed a "standardized" API and asked partners to integrate to it. While this works well for some of our clients, all this really achieves is pushing development costs onto the a joining partner. For bigger clients they can afford to do this as their suppliers as an example cannot afford to loose their business and will pay for the development. But this brings resistance to integration as well as potentially long development processes. What if there was a different way? In todays world API's and data sharing channels are common place and UtopiaSync changes the conversation in a way where instead of asking businesses to connect in a specific way, we are asking "how do you currently connect into existing integrations" or "what API's do you have available"?
Using Utopia to mimic an existing integration point, using whatever format they have already available has been amazing. Integrations can almost become a copy and paste exercise. This vastly reduces integration project time, less time spent on development and connection, more time looking at data. POC's can easily move into production.
Using this method we have been able to complete trading partner integration adoption up to 90% over a space of a few years. Granted the integration workflows look colourful covering everything from integration with spreadsheets, API's, applications, websites, e-commerce... but they all get managed together and if you are clever about your reporting in UtopiaSync it can all be managed very easily.
Utilizing the development businesses already have makes the integration conversation a lot easier and less risk on resources from all parties involved.
